Fine 19th Century Miniature Lantern Clock – Late 19th Century

An exceptionally fine 19th century miniature lantern clock of superb quality, signed for the maker **C.V.** and numbered **423**, dating to circa 1880.

Beautifully constructed and finely detailed throughout, this charming timepiece is fitted with a timepiece chain fusee movement and retains its original brass bob pendulum, complete with a turned transit screw allowing the pendulum to be secured for safe transportation.

The clock additionally strikes the passing of each hour with a single blow, enhancing both its practicality and charm. The time is displayed via an elegant pair of blued steel hands set against a finely worked chapter ring, with a deeply engraved dial centre and matching engraved top fret, all demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship achieved in last part of the 19th century.

A particularly well-made and highly decorative example, combining mechanical ingenuity with refined proportions.
