James Burton, Whitehaven Circa 1795. Wall Regulator.
James Burton was working in Whitehaven in the 1790’s and died in 1815.
A rare early 19th C Mahogany wall regulator. The 11.5″ silvered dial supported by a well finished weight driven movement of eight day duration with six spoke crossings, maintaining power for the dead beat escapement and wood rod pendulum with brass lenticular bob. It is particularly notable for it’s outstanding colour and patination on this unusual teardrop variant of case.
