John Corti Fecit Antique Stick Barometer C1795

A good late 18th century mahogany antique stick barometer, cross banded with ebony and box wood inlay, over a herringbone mahogany body. The silvered scales bearing the makers name, with adjustable vernier to the right of the mercury column and an alcohol thermometer to the left.

The top is fitted with a beautifully enclosed and boxwood inlaid surround to the neat turned brass bezel over a silvered and engraved hydrometer under a broken architectural pediment.
