T Walder Arundel Longcase Clock C1785
- 213cm Height 44cm Width Dial Size 11"
Thomas Walder is one of the best known of the Arundel clock makers and is noted in the clockmakers of Sussex by E.J Tyler for a 30 Hour longcase with overlapping dial, this a style more famously used by William Scafe. This example is very stylishly executed to look like a book engraving NB the unusual placing of the name. The 30 Hour movement is contained in a beautifully figured mahogany case in fine untouched condition. A very smart town clock. Thomas Walder was born in 1766 and died aged 94.
