P Gally London Antique Wheel Barometer C1800

Paul Gally of Clerkenwell London was another Italian maker who made barometers, thermometers, picture frames and looking glasses. The family were in business until 1860 (see Edwin Banfield – Barometers). This instrument is in fact illustrated on the front cover of his book, and is a good example of a quality instrument made at this time.
The inlaid mahogany body is inset with an inlaid star between the 8 inch silvered dial and the long thermometer box with red alcohol thermometer. The body of the instrument inlaid with dog tooth inlay all around the outer edge. The turned brass bezel, glazed and fitted with a brass hand-set for today.
